New Skyrim DLC announced – “Hearthfire” 9/4/12

New Skyrim DLC announced!

“Hearthfire”

Release date: September 4th, 2012 [xbox]

Price: 400 Microsoft Point [$5]

Just a few months after the last DLC “Dawnguard“, Bethesda has announced a new installment in their promised Downloadable Content [DLC]. In “Hearthfire” [which is also the corresponding in game month to our September] they offer players the ability to buy a plot of land [sources say there are multiple lots to pick from] and then build a house on their new land. They will allow the players to use skills similar to those in Minecraft to craft the rooms of their home to make it suit their unique purposes. Such rooms are said to include Armory, Alchemy Tower, Greenhouse, etc. There will also be an option to build an apiary [bee hive], or a fish hatchery and other option for the outside of the house.

Players will also be able to move their spouse into their new domicile and even adopt children. if the player wishes they can even turn one of their companions into the house steward, or simply hire one of the 2 NPCs available with the DLC. The steward will oversee the house, buy materials for your use to upgrade your house and even give you the option to have travel abilities such as a coach or stable.

However, as nice as all of this sounds, its not just a simple “Give me a house” mod, you have to protect your house from roving bandits, kidnappers, giants, and even skeever [rat] infestations. All in all, for $5, it seems like a hell of a deal and I know I personally will be getting it as soon as the Xbox Marketplace has it available for download. Once more information is made available in the next week, or once I obtain the DLC, I will post more details.
